LONE RANGER

Without a doubt, charismatic, pioneer deejay LONE RANGER is one of the greatest story tellers in the business. He began his recording career with Clement "Coxsone" Dodd on his Studio One label. He initially worked as a duo with Welton Irie but soon began recording solo, having a big hit in Jamaica with "Love Bump" and recording two full length LP's "On The Other Side Of Dub" and "Badda Dan Dem" for Coxsone. He also worked primarily with the Virgo Sound System as one of their resident MC's. He had a number one UK reggae chart album in 1980 with "Barnabas Collins" for Alvin Ranglin's GG's label and followed it up with "Rosemarie" for Winston Riley's Techniques label and the legendary "M-16" album on Channel One. He is regarded as one of the most lyrically inventive deejays of his era, and was a major influence on British deejays of the early 1980s. He relocated to the United States in the mid-1980s, but returned to Jamaica in 1998, and began performing on sound systems once again. Joining the Jandisc roster with his dynamite new hit "Spanish Town Special", Ranger rides again!
